Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry

On Tuesday 26 May 2015 the Victorian Government announced the reopening of the Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry (PDF, 296 Kb), to be led by the Honourable Bernard Teague AO and joined by Professor John Catford and Mrs Anita Roper.

Under its terms of reference the Board is examining three areas of interest:

  • Options to decrease the risk of fire arising from or impacting the Anglesea Mine;

  • Health impacts on the Latrobe Valley community resulting from the 2014 Hazelwood Coal Mine Fire; and
  • Mine rehabilitation options for the three Latrobe Valley coal mines.

How to participate

The Board will consider written submissions and run community consultation sessions relating to its three areas of interest in Anglesea and the Latrobe Valley at specific times throughout the year.
